Open Universities Students Association
Welcome to our About page. Firstly, some exciting news for OUSA and its members. Since January 2008, we are completely independent. Formerly, we relied on funding from OUA via Monash Uni. for our day to day running, whereas now we have the challenge of self-funding. Also we were bogged down with the politics of a volunteer Association needing to meet regularly to decide even the smallest matters, whereas now we have an exciting new management team that can concentrate on student services and issues. One of the first benefits is this website launched Jan. 2008, with full editorial control, and an exciting new electronic monthly newsletter for all of our members. There will be a whole range of new features we will be revealing as the year moves on, so stay tuned.
So to get down to business... in some ways I guess you could call this our 'Mission Statement' in which we detail our plans for servicing and helping our student members. Let me start by saying that all of our staff are current students with OUA, so we know exactly what you need, and a little bit about what you may want. Remember, this is where you have a voice that counts, so keep us informed via our contact page in regard to any issues that may arise, or any problems you are facing.
Whether you are returning to Uni after a break, just starting out, or just going for that degree in your chosen field, you should be getting maximum enjoyment out of your tertiary experience. That is precisely where we come in, as all of our services are aimed at making things better for the individual and the online student body as a whole. We can tackle advocacy issues, student advisory forum, and more. We have regular book grants, awards and competitions where you can win vouchers for specialty products.
Our motto is: No fixed office hours, help when you need it.
